Innovation and Intrapreneurship: An Exponential Journey in Public Service
The Government of the State of Mato Grosso has taken a significant step towards modernization and innovation in public service with the launch of the Acelera Gov MT program. In an event held this Tuesday (July 30) at the Palácio Paiaguás, the State Secretariat of Planning and Management (Seplag) promoted a series of lectures on innovation and intrapreneurship, marking the beginning of this pioneering initiative.
Keynote Speaker
Genésio Gomes da Cruz Neto, one of Brazil’s leading names in entrepreneurship and innovation, was the highlight of the event. A professor at the University of Pernambuco (UPE), founder and CEO of Células Empreendedoras, ambassador of Campus Party, and advisor/investor at Polimex Bioplastics, Genésio offered an inspiring vision of how intrapreneurship can transform the public sector.

With a PhD in Computing from CIN/UFPE, Genésio is an award-winning educator and entrepreneur, recognized for his contributions to entrepreneurial education and open innovation. He is the founder of the Academy of Entrepreneurial Educators and has a track record marked by awards such as Entrepreneurial Education Brazil (Endeavor), Santander Universities Entrepreneurship Award, and Transformative Education Award (Global Entrepreneurship Network).
Acelera Gov MT Program
Acelera Gov MT is an innovative program on the national scene, aimed at fostering projects with the potential to improve public service in the state. The goal is to select 30 innovative projects from public servants, transforming embryonic ideas into concrete and tangible solutions.
Sandro Brandão, Deputy Secretary of Planning and Digital Government at Seplag, highlighted the importance of the program:
“With this support and this arm, we will help the servants turn their projects into something concrete, bringing benefits to public administration.”
BasÃlio Bezerra, Secretary of State for Planning and Management, emphasized the support for idea development:
“We will provide the conditions for the servant to develop an idea until it becomes a real delivery for society.”
Lélia Bruno, Superintendent Director of Sebrae-MT, emphasized the impact of intrapreneurship:
“Corporate entrepreneurship enables innovative projects focused on improvements that benefit society.”
Success Story: Vigia Mais MT Program
A success story in public service innovation is the Vigia Mais MT Program, launched in 2022, which strengthened security in municipalities through video monitoring.
Thiago Pinheiro, Deputy Secretary of Systemic Administration at Sesp-MT, explained:
“The goal is to increase the sense of security, reduce crime rates, and identify suspects, ensuring more safety for the population.”
With Acelera Gov MT, the Government of the State of Mato Grosso reaffirms its commitment to innovation and efficiency in public service, creating an environment conducive to the development of solutions that benefit the entire society.
